A younger son of the lord Hamon of Chateau-du-Loir, Robert
does not appear as lord of Château-du-Loir in the surviving
charters, and apparently did not survive his brother Gervais (d.
1067), archbishop of Reims and lord of Château-du-Loir, who was
evidently followed as lord of Château-du-Loir by Robert's son
Gervais II.
[For "Brochard" as a nickname of Robert, see OV x, 8
(vol. 5, p. 229).]

The generation of Robert is accidently omitted in Winkhaus (1950), who evidently erroneously identified Robert's brother Gervais I with Robert's son Gervais II. This error is occasionally repeated in internet sources which used Winkhaus (1950) as a source.
Cart. Château-du-Loir = Eugène Vallée, Cartulaire de Château-du-Loir (Archives Historiques du Maine 6, Le Mans, 1905).
Nec. Mans = Busson & Ledru, Nécrologe-obituaire de la Cathédrale du Mans (Archives Historiques du Maine 7, Le Mans, 1906).

Winkhaus (1950) = Eberhard, "Ahnen zu Karl dem Grossen und Widukind in 765 Ahnenstämmen" (Westfaslen, 1950). [Note: An often unreliable secondary source with little in the way of documentation, this source has been frequently followed as a source by others.]
